blog post fave summer scents 2

It is time for nice-smelling post! I have not written for a favorite scent in a while, so I decided to share with you what fragrances I have been using lately.. As seen in the picture – if  the bottle is pink it goes well with me, but what can I do… I like pink.

So I am starting with the oldest and most favorite fragrance – L’Imperatrice by D & G, which is No. 3 from their collection of fall 2009- Anthology. Currently it is the only one left from the collection which is still in stores, but 6 years ago D & G Fragrance Anthology included five fragrances, bearing the names of tarot cards: Le Bateleur (Jester), L`Imperatrice (Empress), L’Amoureaux (Lovers) La Roue de la Fortune (Wheel of Fortune) and La Lune (Moon). Three of the perfumes of the collection are for women, and the faces of the campaign are no other but the supermodels- Naomi Campbell “L`Imperatrice”, Claudia Schiffer – “La Lune” and Eva Herzigova – “La Roue de la Fortune”.

The Number 3 L`Imperatrice has been my favorite for years, there is something very fresh and sweet, but elegant in it. The aromas of kiwi, musk and watermelon are mixed perfectly to create a fresh, yet classic combination that smells like me, and the spicy, peppery and slightly bitter notes in the scent add even more spirit in this fragrance.

Top notes: kiwi, pink pepper and rhubarb;
Heart notes: watermelon, cyclamen and Madagascar jasmine;
Base notes: sandalwood, musk and wild golden lemon tree.

New to me, but very fresh fragrance is the L’Eau d’Issey Florale by Issey Miyake. It is a very gentle and mild spring scent. Created in 2011 as a continuation of L’EAU d’ISSEY of 1993, it is a more modern interpretation of the classic fragrance. Interestingly, L’Eau d’Issey Florale was created by Alberto Morillas, the mind behind my favorite men’s fragrances – 212 men of Carolina Herrera, CK One and Acqua di Gio.

Top notes of mandarin, rose;

Heart notes: Lily;

Base notes: Birch, woody notes.

blog post fave summer scents 1More wintery and somewhat heavier scent in my collection is For Her by Narcisso Rodriguez. The first time that I found this fragrance was 6-7 years ago when a colleague of mine wore it constantly, and it made such an impression on me, that I remembered it for years, but every time I tried it on, it smelled very different and more musky and heavy on me. After much probing and wonder whether it is me or not, my brother gave it to me as a gift and now I am convinced that this fragrance really is my new winter perfume. They find it “elegant, sensual, mysterious, exciting.” To me it is much more darker and denser, but equally elegant and classic as L’Imperatrice. Extremely feminine, somewhat sweet, but unfolding in a complex combination of musk, amber and vanilla.

Top notes: bergamot, orange blossom, osmanthus

Heart notes : musk, amber

Base notes: vanilla, vetiver

The latest perfume became my favorite at the moment I opened the box, which was sent to me and I saw a packaging of pink crystal and rose gold. Very classic and luxurious. AVON Premiere Luxe Gold Blush is the younger sister of the classic Luxe Gold. In the pink version that I love, rule fruit and flower hues mixed with rich aroma of musk and amber. Vincent Schaller, perfumer for Firmenih who created the fragrance says about it: “I created this fragrance with 3 rare, valuable and exotic white flowers for a very feminine, sensual and elegant fragrance.” And yes, I agree that it is very elegant and feminine, but light enough for every day, no matter the season.

Top notes: pomegranate, peach, pink pepper;

Heart notes: rose, jasmine, orchid gold;

Base notes: patchouli, amber and musk.
